Knights of Sidonia: Battle for Planet Nine now airing!

King Records, a division of Japanese publishing company Kodansha, released a promotional video on April 2, 2015 for Knights of Sidonia: Battle for Planet Nine, featuring scenes from the upcoming anime.

Knights of Sidonia: Battle for Planet Nine (Sidonia no Kishi: Dai-kyū Wakusei Seneki) is the second season anime adaptation of Tsutomu Nihei’s sci-fi manga, Knights of Sidonia.

The year is 3394 and humanity has already lost the Earth to the Gauna, an alien race that invaded the planet a thousand years prior to the start of the story. The survivors fled in massive ships made from the remnants of Earth and traveled to the far reaches of space in search of a new life. The main character of the story is Nagate Tanikaze, a talented Gardes pilot who spent his childhood in the underground layer of Sidonia, training in the use of Gardes, giant robots designed to fight the Gauna, using old simulators. He discovers the upper layer after his sole relative, his grandfather, dies and leaves him to fend for himself. Nagate attempts to adapt himself to society and is quickly recognized for his amazing piloting skills, becoming a key player in Sidonia’s battles against the Gauna.

The second season has begun airing in Japan on April 10, 2015 at the following tv stations: MBS, TBS, CBC, BS-TBS.
