SEGA unveiled the first promotional video for the TV anime tie-on for the MMORPG Phantasy Star Online 2, aptly-named Phantasy Star Online 2 The Animation, this past weekend during the Arks Festival event.
The series will follow an original story focusing on three PSO2 players in an alternate future. The PV also showed interactions between the main characters in both real-life and in-game. This anime is part of the 15th anniversary celebration of the Phantasy Star franchise, which also included a recent announcement for a PlayStation 4 version of PSO2.

The series is helmed by Keiichiro Kawaguchi (Sket Dance, Hunter × Hunter -The Last Mission-) based on the scripts of Mitsutaka Hirota (One Outs, Fresh Pretty Cure!). Minoko Takasu is handling the character designs for the show.
Phantasy Star Online 2 is slated for a 2016 release. As of this writing there is no word yet on any international simulcast.
