Chinese Company DMG Partners with Valiant Comics to Develop New Movies

Thanks to the success of Marvel Studios and Disney’s partnership and the eventual establishment of the MCU or Marvel Cinematic Universe, many companies are looking for their own world to cash in including Valiant Comics which recently partnered up with Chinese outfit DMG.

CBR reports that there’s an nine figure sum involved in this partnership and that both Valiant and DMG plan on making at least nine movies from Valiant’s distinct lineup of comic books.

On top of that, Valiant will also be getting another 8 figure sum to continue developing whatever they have in their plate right now including X-O Manowar, Bloodshot and Ninjak. That particular bit of business model was the same thing that has happened recently with Marvel Comics after getting under the Walt Disney umbrella.

DMG in itself is no mere Chinese company. Some of the films that it has bankrolled include “Looper” and that awkward, cringe-worthy and forced bits in Iron Man 3.

“Valiant’s iconic stable of intellectual property and world class management team coupled with DMG’s unmatched skill with entertainment brand building in China make a formidable partnership,” Valiant Chairman Peter Cuneo said “We will look forward to introducing some of the most popular superheroes of all time to the world’s fastest growing market across all media forms.”

Meanwhile Valiant CEO & Chief Creative Officer Dinesh Shamdasani added “Today marks one of Valiant’s biggest milestones yet with a huge step towards bringing the Valiant characters to the big screen and forging the foundation of the first truly international cinematic universe. By bringing Valiant’s biggest heroes to theaters around the world in concert with our new partners at DMG, we look forward to making Valiant not only an iconic name in comics, but global entertainment as well.”

Here’s a bit of update on some of the movie projects being developed using Valiant characters:

Harbinger – in development
Bloodshot – in development (Sony Pictures)
Archer & Armstrong – in development
Shadowman – scripts being done by J. Michael Straczynski

Sound off on the comments section about this new player in the lucrative industry called comic book movies.
