Local talent Rian Gonzales joins a crop of top artists to design a cover for the relaunched Betty & Veronica series. The title, which will be written and illustrated by Adam Hughes (known for his Wonder Woman and Catwoman covers), puts the spotlight on the leading ladies of Archie comics.
Gonzales revealed the news on her Facebook page last April 15:
“What an honor to have done it for Archie Comics and the incredible Adam Hughes,” she captioned, adding it’s her first published comic book cover. Gonzales joins several of the hottest comic book talents who are releasing their own variants for Betty & Veronica, such as Francesco Francavilla and Cliff Chiang.
Gonzales, aka rianbowart on DeviantArt and Twitter, is known for her cute, quirky watercolor and digital illustrations of girls — a style that’s perfect for B&V. The ones bellow are borrowed from her DeviantArt account.
