December 2017 Events and Happenings Checklist – What’s A Geek!

Time flies extremely fast, and we’ve already seen a ton of geek events fly past us. We’ve just seen Thor: Ragnarok and Justice League, but there’s more to the last few months of the year than we expected. Here are some December 2017 events that you might be interested to attend.

Our What’s-A-Geek! team has created a list just for you so you can search for some of the best events in the Philippines that can help cap 2017.

December 2017 Events: Quick Rundown

Christmas is just a few weeks away, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any more fun events for us to attend and enjoy! These events are just some of the best ways to cap the year this Holiday season.

Here are just some of the events that can help you feel the Christmas season, with tons of things to go to regardless of your interests. We have screenings, sales, and conventions for you!

Week 1 (Nov. 26 to Dec. 2)

Let’s cap the last week of November with a wonderful sale! If you’re a toy fan, then you might love the Christmas Sumo Sale to occur on Nov. 29 to Dec. 2 at the Promenade Theater Hall.

What better way to start December than with art? If you fancy yourself a doodler, then Doodle Fest 2017 is for you! This year will have Doodle Travels PH, which is an exhibition that will feature the beauty of more than 80 provinces in the Philippines! Catch the experience this Dec. 1!

Are you a fan of Magic: The Gathering and other card games? The Ludus Gold Rush 2017 is an annual competition that features some of the country’s best players of Magic: The Gathering. If you fancy yourself a Planeswalker, then see you there on Dec. 2!

If you’re in need of more musicals, what about Matilda by Roald Dahl? Bobby Garcia reinvents this Dennis Kelly classic thanks to music by Tim Minchin. Head to Pasig City this Dec. 2 for the festivities!

Week 2 (Dec. 3 to Dec. 9)

If you’re an independent film enthusiast, then you may want to watch On the Job by Erik Matti. Thankfully, folks at Cinema Centenario got us covered. They’re showing a screening of the critically-acclaimed film on Dec. 3.

December is Christmas season, and what better way to celebrate than with musicals? Head to Taguig this Dec. 7 and catch A Christmas Carol – The Musical with us! The best thing is that the musical will run throughout the month!

Fans of the Manila Wrestling Federation will want to hang on to their seats in Noche Buena. Catch some of the MWF’s biggest stars duke it out for the wrestling experience of the year.

Week 3 (Dec. 10 to Dec. 16)

If you’re looking for places to buy gifts for yourself and your loved ones, then why not attend the Christmas Toys and Collectibles Fair at SM Megamall this year? The festivities run from December 15 to 17.

If you’re a gamer, then Playpark XP is the Christmas Party for you! Mark your calendars this Dec. 10 and head to SM City North EDSA for the festivities. This year’s Christmas party will have events such as cosplays, caroling, and a gamer-themed Xchange gift!

What way to celebrate the week before Christmas than Star Wars, right? Filbar’s has got you covered with its Star Wars: The Last Jedi Superfan Screening for all Wookies out there! Join Rey, Luke Skywalker, and Kylo Ren for the Star Wars experience of the year! Catch the screening this Dec. 16.

Week 4 (Dec. 17 to Dec. 23)

If you’ve loved Legend of the Five Rings, then you’re going to love Crossing Paths! The event, to occur on Dec. 17, is an event that is centered on the hit card game. Show off your skills and share your love for the card game with other players.

Week 5 (Dec. 24 to Dec. 31)

If you’re an otaku or like anime, then what if you go to a convention before the year ends? Cosplay Matsuri 2017 will occur this Dec. 28 to Dec. 30 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. Cosplay, visit with your friends, and more as we celebrate our love for Japanese culture.

Verdict

This caps our extended list for December 2017 events and happenings. Feel free to reach us if you have some events you’d like us to feature as well!. Share your thoughts with us, especially if you’re looking forward to some of these events! Our What’s A Geek! crew may attend some of these events, so catch you guys there!

Stay tuned for our year-ender pieces!
