Ubisoft Planning to Build Video Game Theme Park in Malaysia

Don’t look now but Ubisoft is planning to build a massive theme park based on their games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Just four months after Nintendo’s announcement that it has partnered with Universal Studios for the appearance of its characters in resorts, here comes Ubisoft playing lone wolf with plans to open its own video game themed park.

But here’s the thing, Ubisoft is a big boy; with franchises like Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia there’s a lot of things that they can come up with in terms of attractions.

According to reports the theme park will be spearheaded by the company’s Ubisoft Motion Pictures division and is slated to open 2020. And its expansive at 10,000-square-meter of indoor goodness.

Yes, it’s indoor and that’s totally cool. At least it eliminates the fear of smelling like a wet dog. After sometime waling around. Even better is the fact that its not just rides. There’ll be shows and other similar attractions that fans can enjoy.

“Ubisoft’s intention for this park is to immerse people in reactive worlds where they can interact with each other and become the heroes of their own life-sized game,” Jean de Rivières, senior vice president of Ubisoft Motion Pictures, said in a statement.

In a scale of 1 to 10 on seriousness, we really should chuck in Ubisoft’s theme park at around 7 to 8. The company worked closely with the French company Futuroscope to create a 3D dark ride based on another one of their frachise,”Raving Rabbids” entitled Raving Rabbids: Travel in Time.

For the Malaysian theme park, Ubisoft will be working with theme park developing firm RSG who also happens to co-own the Movie Animation Park studios featuring animated properties of DreamWorks. Interestingly enough RSG will also officially own and operate the new park while Ubisoft will hold creative control.

With this news will you be planning a trip to Kuala Lumpur around 2020?
