SM Cinema Announces New Release Date for The Last: Naruto The Movie

SM Cinema has announced that “The Last: Naruto The Movie” will be available for viewing at SM Cinemas on May 13, 2015 in their Facebook page. The story is set in between the last 2 chapters in the original manga series.

The movie was originally announced for release at SM Cinemas on Dec. 17, 2014, 11 days after it premiered on Japan, making the Philippines the 1st country to see it outside of the land of the rising sun. This announcement was made on November 12, 2014 (just 2 days after the manga ended), much to the excitement of Naruto fans in the country.

However, an announcement was later made on December 8, 2014 that the playdate has been moved to January 2015 due to technical concerns. January passed by without the movie being released and details regarding this delay was never formally announced.

By now, most Naruto fans in the Philippines may have already seen the movie in some form or another. But seeing the movie in all its glory in the big screen is still something to look forward to.

It’s great to see SM Cinema being active in bringing more and more Japanese movies to Philippine shores. One can only imagine what kind of difficulties and roadblocks they need to overcome just to cater to the growing anime and manga community here. Hopefully, these movements will pave the way for grander things in the future.

To SM Cinema I say, “Ganbare!” (Hang in there!) and “Domo arigato!” (Thank you very much!).
