Arnold Schwarzenegger has starred in some of my favorite sci-fi and action films, and he will always be one of my favorite actors because of his prominence during my formative years. However, he is not someone I’d cast in a drama, and seeing him in the zombie horror drama film Maggie piqued my curiosity.
Imagine a post zombie apocalyptic world where the human survivors are forced to deal with their loved ones slowly succumbing into zombies. Schwarzenegger plays Wade, the father of a young girl named Maggie who is infected with the virus and is slowly waiting for the inevitable. Wade, devoted to Maggie, stays by his daughter’s side until she turns.
It’s pretty heavy stuff, and I am surprised to see Schwarzenegger able to carry the role and act the hell out of it. I’m looking forward to Maggie and I will definitely watch this when it comes out.
Maggie stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Abigail Breslin (of Little Miss Sunshine fame), and is the directorial debut of Henry Hobson.
