‘NieR’ by Platinum Games

All right, Square Enix: in my opinion, you won E3.

Hot off their announcement of the Final Fantasy 7 remake, Square Enix announced the follow-up title to their 2010 cult-hit game NieR.

The people behind the game will consist of newcomers and veterans of the series (NieR is part of the Drakengard series). The team will be headed by series director, and all around eccentric person, Taro Yoko. Akihiko Yoshida, the man behind the character designs of games such as: Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story, and Bravely Default, will serve as lead character designer for this game. One of my personal favorite composers, Keiichi Okabe (Tekken, Drakengard, and NieR), will return to write the music for the game. Finally, and most notably, the game will be developed by Platinum games.

Currently, we know that the game will feature action based combat; and that NieR New Project is currently 10% complete. At the moment, the game’s release has only been announced for the Playstation 4. Any additional information about the game will be revealed by fall of this year.

With the game being an action RPG, I am greatly anticipate seeing the gameplay considering that Platinum are the masters of action games.  Being a big fan of this project, I will update you guys when new information is made public.

As a bonus, here is Taro Yoko making an appearance, dressed as NieR character Emil, during Square-Enix’s conference:
