Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill Back as Batman and The Joker in ‘Justice League Action!’

Here ye, here ye! The most essential team of Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are back in their most essential roles: Batman and The Joker. And just in time for  Batman v Super: Dawn of Justice, yeah?

Anyway, Cartoon Network has a new DC animated series coming up under the title Justice League Action. For those expecting something right out of the DCAU, they may be slightly disappointed. The concept is more similar to Teen Titans Go! and features 11 minute episodes with the Trinity fighting crime alongside other league heroes.

Currently only billed as coming soon, CN has this to say about the show:

“Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman lead the DC Comics Super Heroes against their most infamous foes in adventures packed with relentless thrills, fun and action. No need to wait for the good stuff to start, each eleven-minute episode jumps in with lightning-paced action and heroics.

Whether defending the Earth, facing invaders from space, or battling the bizarre forces of magic, the always-rotating team of Justice League heroes, are up to any challenge.”

In addition to the two veterans voice actors, Cartoon Network has also stated James Wood will be voicing Lex Luthor, Diedrich Bader as Booster Gold.

I have to admit though, while the fact that Conroy and Hamill coming back to their iconic characters has me excited like the comic book fan that I am, I can’t help but just miss Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, and most recently, Young Justice. This show kind of looks like DC’s Answer to Marvel’s Super Hero Squad Show. While I understand Batman: The Animated Series and even Green Lantern: The Animated Series were made for kids, the team behind these shows also catered to avid followers of the comics they came from and gave them life. It’s something to reminisce about. Then again, my age is showing!

Old hats Alan Burnett, Butch Lukic, and Kim Krieg are all set to produce the series with Warner Brothers Animation president Sam Register to executive produce.
