Heads up children! Legendary director Garry Marshall has dropped us a bomb. A huge one.
Fifteen years after Anne Hathaway’s debut film, Princess Diaries, a third film is happening! We are headed back to Genovia for Princess Diaries 3!
Like every other kid back in the year 2001, I’m totally gagging. Ten year old me, is kicking, screaming, and absolutely gagged.
But we’re going to have to wait a bit. Oscar award-winning actress Anne Hathaway is currently very pregnant, and we here at What’s A Geek wish her a healthy baby. Mommy duties first! After that though, scream for your lives boys and girls because Queen Amelia Mignonette Thermopolis Renaldi is getting another movie. Can I get an amen up in here?
Don’t forget, Julie Andrews also starred in the last two films. It’d be great to see her back and the abdicated Queen Clarisse Renaldi, who married Joseph (Hector Elizondo) in the sequel.
In addition to that, there’s been interviews with Star Trek bae Chris Pine stating that he’d love to be back in the third film, with Mia having declared her love for his character Nicholas Devereaux in the last instalment, Princess Diaries 2: The Royal Engagement (2004). Admit it, children, we all went back and watched the sequel just to see Captain Kirk at least once.
Other characters like Lily (Heather Matarazzo) better come back too, as well as Fat Louie, the original Pusheen (amirite)!
Whether you’re riding the nostalgia train from way back when, a fan of the Meg Cabot books (to which in my opinion the films made better), or just love Anne Hathaway and her perfect brows, this is certainly a film to look forward to in the near future.
Also, can I say that I still have much love for this scene after fifteen years? (FIFTEEN!!!)
