Pass Me Some Tissue: ‘Me Before You’ Trailer Released!

I don’t know about you guys, but if the buzz and fuss surrounding the recently dropped trailer of Me Before You is any indicator, June 3 looks like it’s going to be this year’s date for wrecked hearts.

Adapted from Jojo Moyes’ best-selling 2012 novel, Mother-of-Dragons Emilia Clarke plays Louisa Clark, a recently unemployed cafe worker desperately searching for a new job. While knowing next to nothing about being a caregiver, she’s taken on nevertheless to care for wheelchair-bound Will Traynor, a wealthy former-adrenaline junkie, played by Sam Claflin, previously known as our dearly departed Finnick Odair.

The trailer is really good at pulling on the heartstrings, and the timing is pretty good considering that Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. The snippets of the twosome getting to know each other are cute, complete with wry banter, charming awkwardness and witty comebacks. You’ve also got Ed Sheeran’s “Photograph” playing in the background to lull you into the mood. What seems to be getting people right in the #Feelings though are lines just like these:

“Didn’t you love anything that much?”
“Yes.”

Granted, I’ve been waiting with bated breath for this movie ever since I caught sight of Claflin’s selfie in bumblebee tights on my IG feed. Now that I have some context, I think it’s a good idea that I go and order an entire truck of Kleenex, while securing some good, solid shoulders to cry on (or with) for when the film hits theaters.

Directed by Thea Sharrock and released by Warner Bros, Me Before You boasts a cast that includes some of the more prominent names to come out of Britain, including Jenna Louise Coleman (Doctor Who), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), Matthew Lewis (Harry Potter), Ben Lloyd-Hughes (Skins, Divergent) and Tony, Olivier, and Drama Desk Award winner, Janet McTeer (The White Queen).
