The Lucifer TV show based on the classic Mike Carey Vertigo book of the same title is good to go with DC already locking in actor Tom Ellis as titular Lucifer Morningstar.
There are currently two plots for the pilot.
(A) Lucifer comes to L.A., and opens a piano bar entitled Lux (Luxuria, a venial sin)
(B) The Lord of Hell (Tom Ellis), grows bored of reigning over the underworld and decides to abandon his post and head to Los Angeles, where he helps the LAPD punish criminals.
The second plot was used but we here at What’s a Geek think that the first plot isn’t so bad. Plus the whole teaming up with authorities sounds too much like Constantine.
The Lucifer pilot was written by Californication creator Tom Kapinos. He will also serve as the series’ executive producer together with Jonathan Littman, Jerry Bruckheimer. The pilot will be directed by Len Wiseman.
Ellis also starred in the USA Network series Rush.
Lastly since this will be Fox, the show will most likely be paired with another DC Comics inspired TV Show, Gotham. Other DC related series on TV at the moment include CW’s “The Flash” and “Arrow” and the upcoming “iZombie”. Other titles on the horizon include TNT’s “Titans”, Syfy’s Krypton and CBS Supergirl.
