The official website for hard hitting fighting game franchise Tekken has announced the release of “Yoshimitsu” for Tekken 7 arcade machines on May 12, 2015.
Yoshimitsu has been a mainstay in the Tekken Series and has appeared in all of the games since the first one came out. He is one of only two characters who wield weapons in the series, the other being Kunimitsu. He is also known to sport an entirely new costume everytime a new Tekken game comes out, with Tekken 7 being no exception.
In this incarnation, he appears to have…tentacles. Leave it to the Japanese to reinforce this pop culture phenomenon. However, it can’t be denied that Yoshimitsu is looking pretty badass in this getup. The costume is a good mix of organic elements and technology; tentacles, muscles, and glowing pants. This new look definitely lives up to his previous moniker, “Space Ninja”.
And here is a bit of gameplay footage with Yoshimitsu sporting his new costume:
This costume was most likely inspired by an old woodblock print made by famous Japanese artist Hokusai, The Dream of the Fisherman’s Wife.
