Titanfall sequel confirmed, all DLC for original game released for free

Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that an as-of-yet unnamed sequel is currently in development.

In an interview with IGN on March 12, Respawn founder and CEO Vince Zampella said, “I guess EA announced a sequel, so I could play coy and pretend I don’t know anything about it, or… yeah. So we’re working on a sequel. No official name yet, but we’re working on that. That’s the main focus but we’re starting up a second team and doing some smaller stuff too. Small, exploratory, taking it slow! It’ll be multiplatform.” This is good news for fans of the original game who may have wanted it on Sony’s console offerings, as Titanfall was only released on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.

Titanfall was one of my surprise favorites last year. While its single-player and campaign options were very limited, and the depth of the game could have used some work, its extreme emphasis on speed, maneuverability, and lightning reflexes brought back memories of old-school FPSes like Quake and Unreal Tournament, while the incredible Titan-Pilot dynamic never failed to shake things up on the battlefield.

Titanfall’s anniversary was just a day earlier on March 11, and Respawn had announced that they would be giving away all map pack DLC for free on Origin and on the Xbox store.
