September Events and Happenings
If you thought that things would cool down after August, you’re wrong. September’s here and you’re probably going to be dancing all the way down to the upcoming events. Well, not literally dancing, this isn’t Glee or anything.
Anyway, here are some September events!
September 1: Force Friday II
SM Mall of Asia – 12:00 AM
Force Friday arrives at SM Mall of Asia with toys inspired by the upcoming film: Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi. Be there before 11:30 PM on August 31 for exciting activities!
September 2: Drop the Mic: Rewind 1998!
Borough – 9:00 PM
WE’RE GOING BACK TO 1998!
Drop The Mic is going on tour and this time we’re lip synching to the music of 1998! That is an oddly specific year, but it was one hell of a year for music/humankind. Let me tell you several things that happened in 1998:
1. Titanic became the first movie to gross $1billion.
2. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time came out.
3. Liza Soberano was born.

September 3: PWR LIVE: Sugod! sa Power Mac Center Spotlight
Circuit Makati – 2:00 PM
Philippine Wrestling Revolution returns to Makati for PWR LIVE: Sugod! sa Power Mac Center Spotlight on Sunday, September 3rd at 2PM. New venue, the same action only PWR can give!
The return-to-Makati show will be headlined by two main events with both PWR and PHX Championships on the line, together with a stacked card you’d be crazy to miss:

September 5: One Night Stand Presents: Mad. New. Millennial.
12 Monkeys Music Hall & Pub – 9:00 PM
First Tuesday night of every other month. ONE NIGHT STAND mounts musical theatre cabarets featuring the brightest artists and songs, both old and new.
This month, One Night Stand presents MAD. NEW. MILLENNIAL. , featuring music from millennial musical theatre composers such as Benj Pasek, Justin Paul, Kait Kerrigan, and Brian Lowdermilk.
The performance will be held on September 5 (Tuesday), 9 pm, at 12 Monkeys Music Hall & Pub in El Pueblo Real de Manila, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

September 5 – 7: Japanese Film Screening in Trinoma
Trinoma Mall Cinema 5 – 2:00 PM
As part of ASEAN’s 50th anniversary, the 2nd ASEAN – Japan TV Festival is bringing the best new films to Trinoma! Catch THE PROJECTS, THE MOHICAN COMES HOME, ASIAN THREE-FOLD MIRROR: REFLECTIONS, KEY OF LIFE and LA LA LA ROCK BOTTOM for free at the cinemas!
September 7-10: 2017 Korean Film Festival in Manila
SM Megamall – 12:00 PM
The annual Korean Film Festival is set to showcase five critically-acclaimed films at SM Cinemas from September 7-10 in Manila, with other select SM Cinemas joining until October 15, 2017.
Catch films like How to Steal a Dog, Twenty, My Brilliant Wife, and more! This festival is free of charge, but note that the first screening for the Manila viewing will be a VIP event and open only to limited audience members.
Tickets will be released one hour before the screening of the first film, and thirty minutes before for every succeeding film. This festival is a joint partnership between the Korean Embassy’s Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines and SM Cinemas.
September 9-10: Best of Anime 2017
SMX Convention Center – 10:00 AM
Now on its 8th year, “The Best of Anime” convention is held every year in Manila, Philippines.
It has undeniably become a haven of fans and enthusiasts for the past six momentous years. Last year, the two-day event had approximately 30,000 visitors who trooped to the venue to experience and witness once more what “The Best of Anime” showcases and offers – an impressive roster of talents, cosplayers, activities, and much more.
Highly-anticipated activities during the Event include the different competitions held namely the All-Star Cosplay Competition, Inter-School Cosplay Competition Championship, the Best of Anime Superstar Karaoke Competition, and the Battle of the Bands. The Convention also holds various demos and workshops like Voice-Dubbing Workshop, Cosplay Makeup Workshop, and Kendo Demo, and this year, a very special concert featuring J-Rock band SPYAIR!!!

September 13-17: The 38th Manila International Book Fair
SMX Convention Center – 10:00 AM
The country’s biggest book event is back for its 2017 edition happening on September 13 – 17, 2017 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.
Now on its 38th year, the MIBF continues to be the country’s biggest and longest-running book fair. It showcases the largest and most varied collection of literature for leisure and academic reading. Everything you need from fiction bestsellers, to textbooks, to graphic novels, and even educational materials are all under one roof. Moreover, the MIBF is also the go-to venue for this year’s most awaited book launches and signings, dialogues with readers, contests, and other literary events.
September 16-17: MIBF Presents – Fandom Fest
SMX Convention Center, Function Rooms 1-3 – 6:30 PM September 16, 5:30 PM September 17
The Manila International Book Fair presents Fandom Fest, a cosplay competition for fans of Pinoy and Western pop culture!
Prepare for some of the strongest heroes in Komiks history, or some of the most fearsome beings this side of The Wall as they go head to head in an all-out competition.

September 23: ELMER Comic Book Signing
Tia Maria’s Sining at Kultura – 2:00 PM
Elmer returns to Komikero Publishing, and we’re celebrating with a comic book signing with writer/artist Gerry Alanguilan at Tia Maria’s Sining at Kultura and Komikero Komiks Museum!
September 30 – October 1: Cosplay Mania 2017
SMX Convention Center – 10:00 AM
The biggest anime and cosplay convention is gearing up for another awesome weekend at SMX Convention Center! There’ll be cosplay, merch, and special guest stars performing on stage!
Get to meet Fuko Noda and Sayo Yamamoto, the producer and director of breakout anime Yuri!!! On Ice, hang out with cosplay royalty, and catch a special live concert at this year’s Japanese Anime Music with extra special guests kradness, Konomi Suzuki, and Shiena Nishizawa!
