Fallout 4 Showcase at E3
Fallout 4 was showcased at Bethesda’s E3 press conference last night.
New features were introduced, including: a new character creation system with fully voiced player characters, a reworked dialogue system, new layered armor mechanics, improved combat, and a new crafting system. This system not only lets players craft weapons, but also entire settlements out of scrap in the Boston wasteland. Players will be able to host traders, and even create trade routes between these crafted settlements!
Also introduced is the new Fallout Shelter iOS game, out now on the Apple App Store. The game is free to play, and does not need an internet connection to function. No news yet on an Android version though, so Android users (like yours truly *grumblegrumble*) might have to do a bit of waiting.
The showcase also announced the game’s Collector’s Edition, dubbed the “Pip-Boy Edition,” which comes exclusively with a smartphone dock modeled into a replica of the game’s famous bulky Pip-Boy smartwatch.
An accompanying app turns the smartphone’s screen into a Pip-Boy screen that mimics the functions of the in-game Pip-Boy.
The companion app to the Pip-Boy collector’s item will be available on the App Store and Google Play on the same day as the main game’s release date.
Which, by the way, has also been revealed:
All in all, this new Fallout game is looking to be a wholly wonderful new addition to the franchise. That Pip-Boy Edition is looking mighty damn fine too.
