A Tale Told of The Batman

When the Arkham Trilogy concluded this year, fans of The Dark Knight accepted that it may be a while before a new Batman game comes along. That isn’t the case after Telltale Games released a teaser for an all-new game involving The Dark Knight at The Game Awards in LA earlier today.

The quick teaser sounds a lot like it could take place in the early years of Bruce Wayne as Batman. From what I’ve heard in the teaser, it seems like much of the game’s focus will be on Bruce instead of his alter-ego. In it, Gothamites appear to be discussing Bruce and how he’s behaving, interspersed with reports of a city in chaos.

Check it here!

Telltale Games has had a great streak with their titles, with some of the biggest pop-culture franchises under their banner – such as Tales from the Borderlands, Game of Thrones, Minecraft Story Mode, Back to the Future, and The Walking Dead.

In a blog post on the Telltale Games website, Co-Founder and CEO Kevin Bruner stated that the game will offer a “first-hand opportunity to dive deeper into the complex life and mind of Bruce Wayne.” The episodic format of Telltale Games is definitely a new way to experience a Batman story, as opposed to the high-octane action that gamers have previously experienced.

I can only speculate how the game will play, but Batman has always been more than just the gadgets and the rogues – he’s also a detective, a master of disguise. I’d like to believe we’ll get to see more of those skills at work, along with seeing the way that Bruce navigates his pretend-fop life. The possibilities are endless when it comes to telling a story of Gotham and Bruce Wayne, really.

According to the blog post, a full announcement teaser trailer will be made available for online viewing later in the week. It has also been revealed that the game will premier digitally across home consoles, PC, Mac, and mobile devices – with specific platform details to be announced.

No concrete release date has been given, or a working title, but look for the Telltale Games Batman story when it comes out in 2016.
