Marvel’s Luke Cage dishes on ‘The Immortal Iron Fist’

According to him, Danny Rand has already been cast, but

“The actor has been cast, but he’s in a basement somewhere. When the time is right, they’ll let him up and tell him where he is. I am [excited]. I’ll get a nice little break, after doing Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. Whether I’m in [his show], I don’t know, but there’s The Defenders.”

We’ve been primed for years now that after Netflix released Daredevil, we’d have the subsequent cast of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist leading up to The Defenders series. Marvel’s been delivering season after excellent season, and looks like they’re on schedule too.

Currently, Scott Reynolds, also a writer on Jessica Jones, is set to be a writer for the show. If that’s anything to go by, I’m really looking forward to this show.

There’s a couple of names floating around like Ryan Philippe in talks to be cast as the lead, and actors like Alain Moussi have also surfaced as potentials for the role. These aren’t confirmed, but Netflix and Marvel have been doing stellar jobs at casting their characters and I really look forward as who they hire as our hero from K’un-Lun.

As for my opinion on the matter, I’d really love it if they adapted Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction’s take on the mythos from their run on The Immortal Iron Fist (2006-2009). But seeing as the Netflix series have been focusing heavily on the New York side of the action, I’m just hoping K’un-Lun and its own characters get some good spotlight and really good fight choreography. One of our editors, Khan, has said that Marvel’s been doing really well with regards to its fight choreographies, saying that from Daredevil and Jessica Jones, the fights have told stories of their respective fighting and learning styles. That’s pretty rare for a show, but it lends to quality, credence, and definitely lends to plot. I hope they continue it with this series as well because this is a martial arts show and I need good fight scenes!

How about you guys? Are you looking forward to this series, and who would you cast as The Immortal Iron Fist? Any arcs you wanted adapted to the screen? Chime in the comments below!

probably way too much to hope for but I’m hoping the other Immortal Weapons at least get a mention, along with some of the previous Iron Fists.
