The long-in-development “Blade Runner 2” is finally coming to fruition. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Harrison Ford himself will reprise his role of Rick Deckard from the critically-acclaimed original. French-Canadian director Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners, Enemy) is in talks to direct the picture for Alcon Entertainment.
The trade mentions that “The film is scheduled to start principle photography in summer of 2016. Hampton Fancher, who co-wrote the original, and Michael Green have written the original screenplay based on an idea by Fancher and Ridley Scott.”
As for the film’s plot, “The story takes place several decades after the conclusion of the 1982 original, which centered on a man (Ford) working as a blade runner tasked with chasing down machines called replicants.”
