Puroresu: New Japan Cup Finals and Great Voyage 2015 results!

March 15th, 2015 got marked as a huge night for Japanese Puroresu as both Pro Wrestling NOAH and New Japan Pro Wrestling held major events: NOAH’s Great Voyage 2015 in Tokyo and the New Japan Cup Finals night.

Pro Wrestling NOAH has been doing an angle where Suzukigun, a top heel faction in NJPW, invaded NOAH with the intent of “burning NOAH to the ground.” Great Voyage 2015 has every single member of Suzukigun in action, most of them engaged in title matches. Was NOAH able to fend off the invaders? Check the results below:

Singles Match: Mitsuhiro Kitamiya defeated Hitoshi Kumano (6:58 via Spear)
Eight-Man Tag Match: BRAVE (Katsuhiko Nakakima/Mohammed Yone/Taiji Ishimori) & Captain NOAH defeated Jonah Rock/Super Crazy/Yoshinari Ogawa/Zack Sabre Jr. (10:39 via Ishimori 450 splash on Super Crazy)
Tag Match: Strong BJ (Daisuke Sekimoto/Yuji Okabayashi) defeated Akitoshi Saito/Quiet Storm (11:57 via Sekimoto Deadlift Germany Suplex on Storm)
Tag Match: Choukibougun (Maybach Taniguchi/Takeshi Morishima) defeated Hiroyoshi Tenzan/Manabu Nakanishi (12:11 via Morishima Backdrop Driver on Nakanishi)
Tag Match: Masato Tanaka/Takashi Sugiura defeated Suzukigun (Shelton X Benjamin/Takashi Iizuka) (16:34 via Sugiura Olympic Qualifying Slam on Iizuka)
GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Championships Triple Threat Match: Suzukigun (El Desperado/TAKA Michinoku) defeated Choukibougun (Hajime Ohara/Kenou) (c) and No Mercy (Daisuke Harada/Genba Hirayanagi) (10:02 via Desperado Diving Body Press on Genba)
GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship: Taichi defeated Atsushi Kotoge (c) (18:57 via Black Mephisto)
GHC Tag Team Championships: Killer Elite Squad (Davey Boy Smith Jr./Lance Archer) (c) defeated The Mighty Don’t Kneel (Shane Haste/Mikey Nicholls) (15:45 via Smith Killer Bomb on Nicholls)
GHC Heavyweight Championship: Minoru Suzuki defeated Naomichi Marufuji (c) (23:44 via Gotch-Style Piledriver)

With Suzukigun now holding all the gold in NOAH, we expect the invasion angle to last for a little while longer, and might also bleed to other events, some even in NJPW.

Meanwhile, NJPW held the New Japan Cup Finals night to a full house. Here are the results of the card:

New Japan Cup – Semi-Final: Kota Ibushi defeated Tetsuya Naito (14:14 via Sit-down Last Ride)
