Shovel Knight DLC, Coming Soon and for Free

As part of their Kickstarter goals, the first of 3 additional campaigns for Yacht Club Games’ Shovel Knight has been revealed.

Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows will place players in the greaves of Plague Knight, a boss from the base game. You play as Plague Knight as he scours the land on his quest to create the Serum Supernus, the Ultimate Potion. Plague Knight’s quest won’t be an easy one though; his former allies, the Knights of No Quarter, hold the ingredients required for his concoction and you must battle them to claim your prize. Romance may be playing a part in Plague Knight’s goals as well, as teased by Yacht Club with their inclusion of Mona, a minor character in the base game, in both screenshots and promotional images.

The DLC will also have new gameplay mechanics and features such as:

• Plague Knight playing completely different from the base game’s protagonist Shovel Knight, having different movement options and attacks
• A crafting system
• New enemies and bosses
• New levels
• Remixed levels featuring new paths
• Plague Knight specific challenges

Shovel Knight was one of my favorite games of last year, and I am really looking forward to getting my hands on this. As I said earlier, Plague of Shadows is the first of 3 additional campaigns that will be added to the game; the other two will feature King Knight and Specter Knight respectively. Those two do not have a scheduled release yet, but you can expect Plague of Shadows to drop sometime in the 2nd quarter of 2015 on the PC, Mac, Linux, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, PS3, and PS4.
