OTHER NEWS AND NOTES
Ring of Honor held a house show on Friday where they announced next year’s ROH/NJPW joint shows, with the pledge more NJPW guys coming in aside from the top stars.
This also comes after an announcement by ROH booker Delirious that Ring of Honor will be touring Japan in Feb 2016 during last Sunday’s G1 Climax final.
NJPW’s Chairman Sugibayashi, referee Tiger Hattori and booker Gedo were all backstage during NXT Takeover: Brooklyn, hanging around with Scott Hall, Kevin Nash and Sean Waltman.
Top joshi (Japanese women’s wrestling) star Kana was shown live on camera during Takeover. Rumors are currently running around that she has signed with the WWE. Kana will apparently address this soon according to a Twitter post by Japanese insider Enuhito.
The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament has been announced, and will feature tag teams “from past, present and future of NXT”.
The next Takeover will be in October.
NXT will be touring the UK in December. Rumor has it that top UK pro wrestling fed PROGRESS will be working alongside NXT on some dates. There’s also speculation on the possible appearance of PROGRESS wrestlers in said tour.
TOP PERFORMERS OF THE WEEK:
With all the solid performances this week, it’s really hard to give it to a single individual. Major honors this week goes to Sasha Banks, Bayley and Hiroshi Tanahashi, who all put their best performances to date IMHO.
TOP TALK SEGMENT OF THE WEEK:
Seriously, can anything top that segment with Paul Heyman singing his graces to Brock Lesnar?
MUST-SEE MATCH OF THE WEEK:
Sasha Banks vs Bayley from NXT Takeover Brooklyn, hands-down. Probably the best WWE women’s wrestling match ever.
That’s how this week went in the wrestling multiverse. Let’s compare notes via the comment section and see if we agree on things!
