Steam Holiday Sale (December 20, 2014)

Surprise! I slightly changed the title. Why? It will look cleaner than going through “Day 1 – 14” I guess. That’s just for me though, but that’s besides the point. That is not why we are here.

We’re on the 2nd day of the Steam Holiday Sale and as such, another list of 48hour deals are up. Seriously, Valve really is after all of our money you know?

Castle Crashers – P41.98 (90% off) or P111.98 (4-pack – 90% off)

CC

“Hack, slash, and smash your way to victory in this award winning 2D arcade adventure from The Behemoth!”

You’ve got a 4-player side-scrolling beat-em-up. Definitely wonderful for local co-op along with beer, pizza, and friends. If you are looking for a short fun-filled ride, look no further. And guess what? Your wallet’s still sort of safe too! Buying the 4-pack makes this deal even more worth it if you have friends to share it with!

Depth – P377.96 (40% off) or P1,019.96 (4-pack – 40%off)

Depth

“Play as a shark or a diver in a dark aquatic world and overcome your enemies by employing cunning, teamwork, and stealth. Depth blends tension and visceral action as you team up against AI or be matched with other players in heart pounding combat.”

Depth is the premiere Shark simulator. Now go ahead and munch on your friends. Because fish are friends, and friends are tasty, tasty snacks!

Killing Floor – P124.98 (75% off) or P549.98 (4-pack – 75% off)

KF

“6-player co-op survival horror at its finest! Free updates, free special events and a ridiculous amount of fun!”

Killing Floor is yet another First-Person zombie slaying game. It’s also widely considered as one of the best available out there. And with free updates, what else could go wrong? Maybe the fact that you’d mostly get killed by the specialized undead, not the floor?

Batman: Arkham Origins – P124.98 (75% off)

AO

“Batman™: Arkham Origins is the next installment in the blockbuster Batman: Arkham videogame franchise. Developed by WB Games Montréal, the game features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original prequel storyline set several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum”

Batman: Arkham Origins is the weakest title of Batman’s Arkham franchise. That isn’t such a neat prospect when I put it that way, right? Wrong. All of the Arkham games are well put together, extremely fluid, and incredibly atmospheric. And considering the fact Arkham Origins is practically a sequel, when you do play Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, it can only get better! I recommend Arkham Origins because it is a respectable game in it’s own right. It’s just, you know, overshadowed by it’s predecessors. And yet, for P125, I could definitely say that Batsy is well worth your time and money.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel – P999.99 (50% off)

BL

“Launch into the Borderlands universe and shoot ‘n’ loot your way through a brand new adventure that rockets you onto Pandora’s moon in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel!”

Let me just say I don’t like Borderlands. Shocking, I know, but I don’t. I enjoyed my time in Borderlands 2, but I just got sick of the whole concept.

So, why am I recommending this game to people if I don’t like it? Simple. Because Borderlands is still a blast to play if you liked the previous games, and it’s especially fun with friends! Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is Borderlands in Low-Gravity. You get a psuedo jet-pack with the Oxygen system, and it’s still got the good old “Shoot Bandits in the face and they explode into loot” mentality. And I have to mention it’s half-off for a game that just came out 2months ago! For those of you that have been itching to get back to the world, you’re definitely going to enjoy your time on Pandora’s moon, Elpis. So gear up, Vault Hunter!

Valkyria Chronicles – P374.96 (25% off)

VC

“The critically acclaimed Valkyria Chronicles is now available on PC, including all previously released DLC!”

And critically acclaimed it actually is. I strongly recommend Valkyria Chronicles’s PC port even with it’s measly 25% off simply because Valkyria Chronicles is just that damned good. If you’ve never played the PS3 version then it’s high time you get this game in your library, and download. If I could try to explain it, this game is a more fleshed out version of XCOM: Enemy Unknown/Within. The gameplay is a unique blend of Turn-Based Strategy and Third-Person Shooters. You’ve got tanks, rockets, Valkyries (It would have been considered a spoiler were it not for the TITLE ITSELF), and you’ve got an engaging story which brings you up close and personal with the lives of the main protagonists, and you become entangled with the ups and downs of their lives within the war. Oh and did I mention the cel-shaded art style looks absolutely fantastic, and along with fluid animations, bring to life such a cohesive narrative.

It is quite obvious that I love this game, and for good reason. I’ll put it at that. I have absolutely no qualms about recommending this game to you guys even at full-price. Valkyria Chronicles is just one of those hidden gems that you just have to play for yourself.
It’s just Day 2 you guys. Also, check the 12hour deals available on Steam. You get good bargains for the Daily deals, but when you do see your favourite games up on the Flash Sales, go get it! HAVE FUN WITH YOUR CHRISTMAS VIDEO GAME SHOPPING PEOPLE!
