It’s the last month before we hit the –bers, and while the weather’s getting a little bit colder and wetter, this month’s events are burning pretty hot. It gets pretty packed on the first weekend of August and there’ll be a constant build throughout the month.

Here are your August events and happenings:

August 5: Gamers for Good: A Fundraiser for Marawi Children
Hungry Meeples Restaurant, Games & Events Place – 11am to 9pm

“We can all play our part. 100% of the proceeds will go to victims of the war in Marawi. Donations will be given to and distributed in Marawi by Salinlahi Alliance for Children’s Concerns.

This is an opportunity for board game lovers to get together and share what we have as a community.

Aug. 5, Saturday, 11am-9pm

There are many ways we can all help:

1. Donation Passes in different denominations
2. Donations of clothes, medicine, toys, games, school supplies
3. Giving messages of support

August 5: Komikon Indieket 2017
Bayanihan Center, Unilab Compound –  9am

“Komikon Indieket, the 1st Komikon Grand Independent Komiks Market determined the independent groups and individuals that joined the main Komikon 2012 Indie Komiks Tiangge participants in October 2012.

Now on its sixth year, Komikon Indieket 2017 brings together some of the best independent comics in the country!”

August 5: Stephen: Broadway Open Mic
Steeple and Perk Café, Makati – 6pm to 11:59pm

“Join us as we travel from a far-off corner of the western sky, into the deepest part of the woods.”

The ninth installment of the Broadway Open Mic series is centred around two composers whose works are close to the hearts of musical theatre fans everywhere. Simply entitled “Stephen”, attendees are invited to take the stage to sing the enduring music of two beloved Stephens: Sondheim and Schwartz. Both composers have a wealth of treasures, both well-known and a little more hidden, to their respective names.

Mr. Sondheim is responsible for classics such as Into the Woods, Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music, and Company, as well as lyrics for West Side Story, and Gypsy. Mr. Schwartz is best known for creating masterpieces such as Pippin, Godspell, and the massive mega-musical Wicked, and his lyrics were featured in childhood staples such as The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Prince of Egypt, Pocahontas, and Enchanted.”

August 5: Kink For Success Munch: Behavior Modification
UCC Forbes Town BGC – 5pm to 8pm

“What exactly is a munch? A munch is a gathering of kink and kink-curious folk in a neutral setting.

Kink For Success Munch happens the first Saturday of every month and is education focused. We welcome all orientations and level of experience. Each meeting is loosely structured with plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

If you’ve never done a “Kink and Drink” with Domina Chase, now is the time.”

August 10-13: HistoryCon 2017
World Trade Convention Center – 10am to 8pm

August 10-24: West Side Story Manila 2017

August 12-13: Otaku Reload Expo x Tokuspirits 2017
5th Level, SM Megamall Building B, SM Megamall – 10am to 9pm

August 12: ManilaManika Tiangge 2017
VentureSpace PH, Shaw Boulevard – 1pm to 7pm

This year’s venue is VentureSpace PH, 2/F CBC Corporate Center, easily accessed from Shaw MRT Station.”

August 19: Level Up Showdown
Tiendesitas Grounds

“Prepare for another showdown of Parkour and Tricking at Tiendesitas, brought to you once again by Ninja Academy.

Witness a martial arts tricking competition, and a parkour showdown courtesy of Ninja Academy’s Traceurs. Kids can also join in on the fun in a Parkour Speed Run.”

August 19-20: D&D Adventurers League Epicenter 2017
iAcademy Plaza – 10am to 7pm

August 25-27: Asia Pop ComicCon Manila 2017
SMX Convention Center – 11am to 8pm
