Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling to hold joint shows again!

Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling will be holding another set of shows together this coming May, as confirmed by ROH. This marks the second straight year that the two promotions will hold joint shows, but this time there will be 3 show dates available: War of the Worlds on May 13th in Philadelphia, and Global Wars on May 15th and 16th in Toronto.

Two of the best Wrestling Federations outside of WWE do a collaboration!

Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling have maintained a friendly relationship for years, but it reached its zenith last year when both of them agreed to host joint shows, with the intention of introducing NJPW to the US audience. These shows produced Match of the Year candidates such as the “Best 2 out of 3 Falls Match” between then ROH Tag Team champs The Young Bucks and reDRagon, Shinsuke Nakamura vs Kevin Steen (now known as Kevin Owens in WWE NXT) and a triple threat match between IWGP Heavyweight Champion AJ Styles, Michael Elgin and Kazuchika Okada. This partnership also paved the way for more American wrestlers to participate in the Japanese wrestling circuit.

This year’s iteration is generating a lot of buzz as both sides have considerably boosted their rosters within the last few months, paving the way for potential match ups such as current IWGP Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura vs Alberto El Patron (better known as WWE’s Alberto del Rio), Kota Ibushi vs Matt Sydal (aka Evan Bourne), Hirooki Goto and Katsuyori Shibata vs The Addiction (Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian), Kazuchika Okada vs the ROH-returning Samoa Joe, Kenny Omega vs Jay Lethal, and so on. The (in)famous stable Bullet Club will surely be in attendance too.
