Final Fantasy X/X-2 heading to the PS4 on May 2015
Square Enix has announced that the PlayStation 4 version of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will be released on May 12, 2015 in North America and May 14, 2015 in Japan.
The Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, which was originally released for both PS3 and Vita, will be carried over to the PS4 with the following key features:
- Cross-Save Functionality – Players can transfer their save and continue their progress across the PlayStation 4 system, PlayStation 3 system, and the PlayStation Vita handheld entertainment system.
- Ability to Switch Between Original and Remastered Soundtrack – Play FINAL FANTASY X with the beautifully remastered soundtrack or, new to the PlayStation®4 system version, switch back to the original classic tracks.
- Remote play – Supported for the Playstation Vita handheld entertainment system.

Critics are quick to point out that this seems to be a quick cash grab opportunity from Square Enix, however some are quick to point out though that this may be targeted to those who moved to the PS4 from the Xbox 360 as the initial release was a PlayStation exclusive release. Also, it’s interesting to note that remote play is supported despite the game having a seperate Vita version with cross-save.
A desk calendar containing artwork from Yoshitaka Amano awaits those who would pre-order the North American version of the game.
