APCC 2017 Day 0: Get Ready for Awesome on August 25 to 27!

Third time’s the charm! AsiaPOP Comicon (APCC 2017) Manila is all set to bring another amazing three-day experience for geeks and pop culture enthusiasts in the Philippines.

APCC 2017 will be the third iteration of the AsiaPOP Comicon series of conventions in the Philippines. And based on what we know about the event so far, APCC is just getting better and better.

Serena Kozuki will be making her fans swoon as an APCC 2017 entertainment guest. She is just one of quite the blockbuster list of guests in store for attendees. Tyler Hoechlin (Teen Wolf, Supergirl) and Ray Fisher (DC Extended Universe) will be coming over to APCC as well. Fans of Netflix’s Stranger Things will also get to see its stars in its Netflix panel. Genji voice actor Gaku Space will also arrive in APCC!

Fans of the Japanese series Death Note can head over to the Netflix panel on Saturday, August 26 to watch a screening of Death Note: A Netflix Original Film!

APCC 2017: Guests and Highlights

Meanwhile, comic fans can meet Carl Potts, Whilce Portacio and Rodney Ramos to get their works signed. Potts has editorial experience in Marvel, having mentored big names in the industry such as Jim Lee, Art Adams, and Mike Mignola. Whilce Portacio, one of Potts’ mentees, is the creator of the mutant Bishop for the X-Men. Rodney Ramos got to ink quite a wide variety of books, including those of heroes Iron Man, Gambit, Spider-Man and even the Punisher.

Speaking of comic books: Marvel Asia vice president C. B. Cebulski will be back with Hall M! 1,000 lucky attendees can get exclusive footage and never seen before clips of movies, television series, animation and perhaps even games from Marvel. Artists who have submitted their portfolios before August 23 can have them reviewed by C. B. Cebulski, and may even jumpstart their comic book career!

Art enthusiasts can get to see for themselves the amazing works of some acclaimed digital and traditional artists. Artists Alan Quah, Staney Lau (Artgerm), Jason Freeny, Quiccs and Simone Legno will be coming to the Philippines to share their work and maybe even have a few words for fans. Artists even have their very own corner in the convention where they can mingle with their fans and share their works.

Meanwhile, cosplay lovers will get another taste of the CAGE. This year’s Cosplay Authority Global Challenge will have guests such as Alodia Gosiengfiao, Jin (BehindInfinity), Pion Kim and Philip Odango. CAGE is the biggest cosplay competition in the region with a whopping USD 18,000 total in cash and prizes to be won.

Panels & Other Goodies

Fans can expect various panel discussions with guests throughout the three days. Jason Freeny, Quiccs and Simone Legno will have a Toy Panel; while Cha Ocapo, Janina Vela and Patrice Averilla will have a Social Media Panel on Day 2. The third day will have a Comic Panel with Artgerm, Carl Potts, Rodney Ramos and Whilce Portacio in the morning, while Alodia Gosiengfiao, Canvas Cosplay, Haiden Hazard, Jin and Pion Kim will have a Cosplay Panel in the afternoon.

Those who want to explore around the convention center can also find a ton of awesome booths! Alchemedia, the creators of Saving Sally, will have their own booth set up for the convention. Anotoys Collectibles and Big Boys Toys Store will also be there for toy fans, while Comic Odyssey and Filbar’s has comic fans covered. Other interesting finds include Ekonic, a hero lifestyle brand, InkInk collectibles, and Perry in Disguise clothing. These are just some of the over 40+ booths that fans can find in the convention center.
