AsiaPOP Comicon Manila 2018: Finn Jones, Jessica Henwick Lead First Wave Of Guests!
If the first half of the year has been any indication, 2018 has more surprises in store for us! The year has been nothing but one surprise after the other for geeks all over the world! Geeks in the Philippines will have another reason to geek out this year, as AsiaPOP Comicon Manila 2018 will be making a comeback, and it’s earlier than ever! That’s right, APCC 2018 has set its eyes in the Philippines for a thrilling weekend for festivities. Fans can proceed to the SMX Convention Center in Pasay this July 27 to 29 to geek out with other enthusiasts and hobbyists in the country! However, what else should we expect?
AsiaPOP Comicon Manila 2018 is Back!
AsiaPOP Comicon is back for its fantastic fourth year for the biggest and much-awaited pop culture convention in the region. APCC Manila 2018 is slated for July 27 to 29 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
Our team at What’s A Geek! attended the first press event for AsiaPOP Comicon Manila 2018, and it’s revealed quite a lot of exciting details. There’s bound to be more coming up in the next few weeks, but what we’ve got are too sizzling to resist. Firstly, Marvel’s Defenders stars Finn Jones and Jessica Henwick will lead the first wave of guests in the events! You got that right, “wave.”
Celebrity Guests: The Defenders Come To Manila!
Finn Jones punches his way to top billing this APCC Manila 2018. Marvel fans will know him quite well as the Immortal Iron Fist (from Iron Fist and The Defenders). Fans from Westeros will of course recognize him as the Knight of Flowers in Game of Thrones. Jessica Henwick shares the stage in spearheading this year’s lineup, having appeared in the same shows as Jones. Henwick is most notable for her role as Colleen Wing (Iron Fist, The Defenders) and Nymeria, one of the Sand Snakes, in Game of Thrones.
Of course, fans must be excited to hear from the two about any news on Iron Fist season two. We’re excited for future developments, however!
Cosplay Authority Global Challenge (CAGE)
Cosplay fans can expect yet another explosive cosplaying event in APCC 2018! The Cosplay Authority Global Challenge makes a return and now has some more heavy-hitters for fans. Philip Odango, also known as Canvas Cosplay and Singer Philippines sponsoree, returns to the Philippines once again for his award-winning cosplay expertise. Odango earned praise from Disney’s head of animation to the “The Real Maui” for his Maui cosplay for Moana. Leon Chiro, another award-winning cosplayer, flies al the way from Italy to share his talent with the Filipino cosplay community.
The huge line up includes Mexican colorist Alex Sinclair (Batman: Hush, Superman), illustrator Lan Medina (Fables, MERA), creator Mike McKone (Avengers: Endless Wartime, Justice League United), painter Phil Noto (Black Widow, The Infinite Horizon), and artist Whilce Portacio (Uncanny X-Men, X-Factor).
APCC Manila 2018 is privileged enough to invite respected sculptor and veteran artist Brian Ian Miur. He is best known as the designer of the iconic helmet of Star Wars Sith Lord, Darth Vader. tokidoki co-founder Simone Legano visits the Philippines for the nth time and is back to regale his loyal audience.

Tickets are now available at SM Tickets website and all SM Tickets outlets. One day passes are Php 650, two-day passes are Php 950, and three-day passes are Php 1150. Tickets will give ticketholders access to stage activities, performances, and the main exhibition floor. The event is free for children aged five years and below.
